I attended St. Mary's in the mid forties and have many memories of my first school. Was delighted to see it on the computer and also the church where we all attended Harvest Festival. I must have been about 4 or 5.
My very first teacher was Mrs. Nora Oldham and we kept in touch occasionally after I emigrated to Canada.
Very happy memories and lovely to see the old place.

I left in 1979 . I can remember the outside toilets with loads of newspapers in the loft. I can remember the lady who worked in the first office as you walked into school and used to take money off you for dinners. I can remember the nursery that overlooked the play ground because it had huge windows and I can remember my final classroom next to the stage in the hall. We used to believe there was a secret passage under that classroom, don't know why!
Saw a picture on friends re-united with me in tonight, hence the comments. its all coming flooding back!

It is lovely to hear from former children and parents. We do have an archive of old photographs and work from children. A few years ago we had an open afternoon for people to call in and share their memories. We are planning to do this again before Christmas. Keep checking our website for details.

I left St. Marys nearly 5 years ago and I still remember how many good memories from primary school I had such an amazing time at St. Marys. I still talk to my friends about the nice, funny and embarrassing memories that happened, The end of year trip to Kingswood was probably the best. I had such kind teachers. Thankyou for all your support. I will always remember my time at St. Marys

Hello. I attended St Mary's around 1980 (aged 5) at the time the council was trying to close the school and a team led by my mum saved it from closure by marching through the streets to the council offices with plaquards. We also went in the newspaper and on the local radio singing a song 'Save our School' which was written by a parent at the time. Unfortunately, we lost all our photos some time ago and I am trying to build a memory book for my mum who is nearing her 60th. Do you have any news archives containing any of this information that you could share with me. My name at the time was Wendy Lowe and my mum Dorothy Lowe. I would be so grateful for your help. It is good to know that after our actions all those years ago the school is still going strong

Around 1981 I ran a campaign to 'save our school' for St Marys, Droylsden. I wondered if any photographs were available as I would like to display them when I retire. My children attending the school were Wendy and Melanie Lowe. My name then was Dorothy Lowe. I would appreciate any feedback.
Kind Regards

Hello: I spent my very first day of school at St. Mary's. I remember the Headmistress was Miss Frith and I had a very favourite teacher named Mrs. Nora Oldham. Was interested to see if the school was still operating, since I started school probably in 1944/45? How lovely to see that you are still there. Many memories of games in the school yard, climbing over the cemetery wall into the cemetery and reading old gravestones, smell of poster paint when we got to mix it up from the powder, "Sleep" time when we all had a little nap and Friday afternoons when Mrs. Oldham read us a chapter of a "Milly, Molly, Mandy" book. Happy, happy memories and a trip down memory lane.
Thanks for being there.... Dorothy Hazelwood.

Hi Everyone,
Hope you all enjoyed your summer holidays.
The PATT team has decided to refresh the name to PTA (Parent & Teacher Association) instead of PATT - this is so new parents are aware st St Mary's have dedicated parents and teachers assisting with fund raising and we welcome new faces and ideas throughout the year. Parents/volunteers don't need to attend meeting or become a part of the team, they can pop down to the meeting or contact me of other members of the PTA to share their ideas of what would be good ideas for school's fund raising activities. If new parents or volunteers would like to contact me direct here is my mobile number 07970163448. We are always looking for assistance especially around Summer and Christmas Fair event.
Hope you can make it to the next PTA meeting scheduled for Monday 8th October 2012 at school staff room - we also welcome the children's ideas so bring them along.
Tracey.

Hello,
I don't think any of your current staff will remember, but my Mum, Audrey Smith, was Deputy Head at St Marys from the 1970s to 1990s. It is with great sadness that I write to tell you that she has passed peacefully away. Perhaps if any of the current staff are still in contact with staff from this period, you could remember her to them, and also the Rector at St Marys, if it is still Mr Williamson (and that my memory hasn't betrayed me regarding his name).

My teacher is Mr. Quinn (I'm in year6) all my class would agree he is spectacular. We have a Garden where you can learn about Nature and in the Garden we have a chicken coop that we designed and chickens that have hatched (you will love it!).
